Tracking Patients and Trials during COVID-19
For three-decades, health systems have relied on TeleTracking to efficiently move patients through the care continuum from admission through discharge. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced health systems to rethink patient flow processes and patient and caregiver safety.
Teams have always worked hard to move patients through their care journey—focusing on prioritizing discharges, utilizing patient transport and ensuring environmental services is immediately notified upon a patient departure—to ensure rooms are available for waiting patients.
COVID-19 has added additional complexity to this process, as COVID and non-COVID rooms and equipment have to be handled differently, requiring more staff and enhanced cleaning procedures. At the same time, health systems are facing significant capacity challenges, making it critical to place patients in the right place, by the right mode of transport, for the right care, the FIRST time.
VCU Health relied on TeleTracking for years to track patient movements throughout the hospital—now they’re using it as a means of tracking clinical trials for COVID-19 research.
